What Five Feelings Determine Your Happiness Level?

Not Happy

This Is My List

#1. COMFORT Not a comfortable chair or bed. Not that kind of comfort (although that’s good too) I’m talking about a feeling of well-being, no stress or worry. It’s difficult if not impossible for me to be happy if I’m worried or stressed all the time.

#2. HEALTH My health sometimes has a large impact on my happiness. It’s not that I can’t be happy when I’m having health issues but it’s like taking a Sunday drive to see the fall colors and my car is sputtering and lurching. It’s hard to enjoy the scenery.

#3. RELATIONSHIPS If I’m having problems with someone close to me, a family member, close friend, or even someone at work, it’s going to affect my happiness. It will have an effect because these are people that I care about and are part of me. I will not be completely happy until the issue is resolved.

#4. WORTH Not wealth, but worth. Just like everyone else I have the need to be valued. The lowest points in my life all had one thing in common, I felt like a failure, not knowing what to do, weak and afraid, utterly worthless. To feel worthwhile is “powerful”

#5. HOPE Living without hope is more of an existence than a life. Hope for the future is vital for me and if it’s not there my life consists totally of routine. There have been few times in my life when I didn’t at least have “hope” but those times brought me very close to the end. Once all hope is gone what is there? Only existence.

If you suffer from one (or all) of these issues or maybe another that I didn’t mention, how did you resolve it? I struggled with them at different times, often several at once. Sometimes it felt like I was being “stoned to death” with one issue after another and there’s no doubt one can bring on another.

Sometimes I had no control over these issues. An accident or sickness can come without warning, a loved one can leave, or a much-needed job be taken away. These things and plenty more can, and do happen. Life happens to all of us.

Jim Rohn once said: “It’s not what happens, it’s what we do about what happens that matters”. Life can be tough and many of the same things happen to all of us.

I Found The Answer

I tried dealing with these issues in a variety of ways with mixed results. I always managed a comeback but seldom a complete turn-around or complete cure until the 30th day of September 2018. What happened on that date? I came into the light. I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior. I had been wandering in darkness my whole life never really knowing where I was going, why I was here, or even how to be happy. Jesus lit up my life and showed me the way.

Be Happy

Because of Jesus, I am in control of these five happiness crushers, not the other way around. This is what putting on “The Armor of God” looks like:

I now have COMFORT ….no more stress or worry because I know now what’s important and where I’m going.

I now have my HEALTH….it’s in the Lord’s hands and He has done wonders. The Holy Spirit has led me to fantastic health improvements.

I now have better Relationships….because the Holy Spirit shows me the way. Relationships are like plants they need care and attention for without it they will die.

I now have WORTH….I always will have worth because Jesus loves me. I serve Him, not man. My work is worthwhile.

And, I will always have Hope….because I know that no matter what happens, I can trust Jesus. He DIED for me. Nobody else could do that. I am secure in the knowledge that I will be with him and my Christian loved ones someday in Heaven.

It does not get any better than this. There are no better offers out there.

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
