Becoming a Christian is exciting and a new beginning.
Remember thinking about this question? “How can the universe be endless?” It boggled my mind and to be honest it still does. If there is an end what’s on the other side of the end? Is there a wall or something, then what’s on the other side of the wall? As Charlie Brown says: AAAAARRRGH!!!
I can hear my science teacher’s smug voice saying: “Well, Dennis the universe is ever-expanding”. If that’s true, where the heck is it expanding to? What was in the space before space expanded into it? I just wanted to slap her! I know I’m not a smart man, not a scientist, or philosopher, and it will be said there’s no way I could understand all this stuff. You may want to skip the next paragraph.
Philosophy of space and time is the branch of philosophy concerned with the issues surrounding the ontology, epistemology, and character of space and time. While such ideas have been central to philosophy from its inception, the philosophy of space and time was both an inspiration for and a central aspect of early analytic philosophy. The subject focuses on a number of basic issues, including whether time and space exist independently of the mind, whether they exist independently of one another, what accounts for time’s apparently unidirectional flow, whether times other than the present moment exist, and questions about the nature of identity (particularly the nature of identity over time).s
Well, believe it or not, I do understand some of that and I catch one pretty important word near the end (apparently) and then there’s the phrase (questions about the nature of identity) Sounds kinda like Bill Clintons famous answer to a question: “that depends on what your definition of is, is.” In my mind, this all means it’s just a theory and is code for S.W.A.G (scientific wild a$$ guess.) It has been said that religion is a poor man’s science. Well, that’s probably true since the Bible says in Matthew 19:22 “And again I say unto you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.” So, with my bank account, at least I’m good on that obstacle.
I’m certainly not making light of our scientific community. The discoveries made and the list of good they have done is endless. Well, it’s almost endless. It’s not like outer space endless, but I digress.
It’s hard to get a perspective on what a never-ending space might look like without going to the country on a clear night where there are no lights. I loved going night fishing; looking up to see that great expanse, the trillions of stars, some even different colors. And, there were always those shooting stars. You just can’t see all this magnificence anywhere near a city.
I find it difficult to believe that anyone would think the universe was an accident. There are not accidents all around us, there are creations all around us. From the vastness of space to the tiny human life in a mother’s womb, is Divine Creation. This was created by God, our God that exists in the beginning and the end who is not bound by time or space. If anything is ever-expanding, it’s God. This is the explanation of creation. Man has done everything in his power to disprove God why? Because that puts man in charge. If there is no God, no Bible, then man gets to make his own rules and decide what is right and wrong.
Which, if any of the 10 commandments do we like? We must not like any of them. We are removing them all from our schools, buildings, and government. Do we no longer have a covenant with God? If not, what should God do with us?
Genesis 1:16 – And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also. That’s good enough for me.
