Becoming a Christian is exciting and a new beginning.
Each new crisis reveals just how fragile our society actually is. We think we have it all under control, civilization will always remain intact, and our lifestyles will continue to prosper. The outbreak of the corona virus is the latest example of our frailty. The news covers the story incessantly, the public rushes to buy toilet paper and other perceived necessities. Events are cancelled, schools closed, hospitals locked down, panic and hysteria is beginning to grip our Nation. It’s society vs the corona virus.
There have been plenty of others in my lifetime, Y2K comes to mind (what an experience that was!) I bought into that one and purchased my first generator along with all the usual survival supplies. I’m certainly not saying the corona virus is not a crisis and we all need to follow the guidelines and use common sense because it is very serious.
But to reiterate my point, society is fragile. It does not take very much to set it into a tailspin and many people are just no longer used to hardship. When toilet paper becomes your priority, you are not seeing the big picture and (wait for it) you are spoiled rotten. Never mind people are getting sick and some dying. Never mind this virus could get a lot worse and affect you or your family, just make sure you have toilet paper!
Please bear in mind, I’m using toilet paper as a bit of a metaphor for all the things we think are important, but not really necessary for our survival and I include myself in the spoiled rotten group. I still have a ton of toilet paper from the Y2K thingy, so I’m good.
We will come through this health crisis just like all the others, but I hope everyone will pay attention this time and learn something. Not only to keep plenty of toilet paper on hand but to prepare for our forever. If something like Y2K or a corona virus can cause so much havoc, can we imagine what the Tribulation would be like? The Bible says in Matthew 24:21 “For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be”.
As a Christian I’ll not have to go through the years of tribulation. Knowing where I am spending eternity is a great comfort now, through this corona virus, the next crisis, and forever. I’m good.
John 3:16
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
This is a great article, Dennis. It’s times like this when we need to assess what our priorities are, trust in God’s plan and not be lead astray by an agenda created by man.
It really is wonderful to be a Christian for many reasons, but confidence and faith in our creator God brings comfort in times like these. Thank you so much for your response Sandra.

It really is silly what a lot of us focus on during these times. Sometimes all the distractions can take away from what our focus should be, keeping your eye on the cross.
Oh and lol at the “stupid man doing that best he can” ?
