Becoming a Christian is exciting and a new beginning.
Sometimes people become very aggressive when discussing the Bible and some insist that every written word must be taken “literally” exactly as it is written. When I read the bible, I see things that are certainly examples, not literal. Jesus often spoke in parables (not literal) but always contained a message. Many things in the Old Testament cannot be done in modern times. Sacrificing animals for instance would not be acceptable and is no longer required. Jesus shedding his blood for us, took such things off the table.
There are some folks who don’t believe anything written in the Bible and that’s anyone and everyone’s choice. After all, that is what The Gospel and Christian faith is, an offer, which means we must choose to believe in God, accept Jesus, and The Holy Spirit. There is no sound reason for anyone to hate, disparage, or criticize Christians. And we as Christians certainly must not hate or disparage others. There are two commandments Jesus gives us in the New Covenant and number two is to love your neighbor as you do yourself.
These thoughts have been on my mind and when I am led to write, it is The Holy Spirit that seems to nudge me until I pen these thoughts. I hope they may be helpful for someone who may want or need to hear them.
