Seasons of Life

Winter Happens

A very wise man “Jim Rohn” wrote a book. It was called “The Seasons of Life”. In this book he uses the seasons as a metaphor to illustrate the phases of our lives. Now this may be old news to many, especially folk climbing the corporate ladder or those continually seeking self improvement. This man Jim Rohn had a profound effect on my life.

Wisdom Lives On

Mr. Rohn has passed on but his wisdom lives on inside the many lives he positively affected. Now, he readily admits that many of his teachings came from other people, in fact a large part of what he taught was the fact that most all knowledge and success can be found in books written by other people and the point is that if we want to become something (anything) why wouldn’t we study “that”? If we want to be healthy, study health. There are thousands of books written on the subject by the people who know the most about it.

I wanted to own a lot of real estate and be a landlord so I took his advice and studied how to do that and after a while I succeeded. I obtained quite a bit of real estate and became a landlord. There is really no excuse why we can’t do the thing we want to do. One of Mr. Rohn’s “isms” was “you can’t have everything you want, but you can have anything you want.” As a side-note I soon found out that being a landlord was not as glamorous as I had imagined.

Winter Happens

The point is: we cannot expect our lives to always consist of the seasons we select. Spring being the season of renewal and planting, summer the season of fun and happiness, and fall the season of harvest, no we don’t get to live entirely in those. There has to be some winters mixed in there. This is when things go wrong, when nothing seems to go right, when it all falls apart.

Even though spring is here, we are all living through a desperate winter season right now with the corona virus pandemic. We have never experienced any winter quite like it. Thousands are sick and dying and no one knows how it will all end. People are afraid not only because they may get sick or even die, they are fearful because they cannot control what is happening. For the first time their future is uncertain.

Man Is Not In Control

There exists a group of people who are handling this springtime winter better than most. They are prepared, they are not afraid, and they are secure. This group of people are called Christians. We have accepted Jesus as our Lord and savior and we are secure in our eternity. Even at its longest, life on earth is very short “only as a vapor”. Man is not in control but Christians know who is in control. He is the one who created all the seasons and He created all of us. His name is Yahowah, God’s personal name. It means I am and I exist.

How, when, and how this pandemic (winter) will end is in God’s hands. His “will” will be done just as it always has. We may not understand but we accept it and know that God does everything for a reason. His ways are not as our ways.

Isaiah 55:8-9 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways.

If you want to never fear again, feel secure, and know where you will spend eternity. If you want to eliminate hatred and have love for your fellow man and be forgiven of all your sins, if you want strength and the guidance of The Holy Spirit in every thing you do, all you have to do is…….ask. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

John 3:16
